John Muir

John Muir has 20 years of health system experience gained from the public and private sectors. Starting his career with the Nova Scotia Department of Health and Wellness, he currently works with Medavie Health Services as the Director of Business Development and Strategy based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

John has a particular interest in how governments organize themselves to deliver health services. Medavie provides a range of emergency and community-based services, which has given John exposure to health systems across Canada. In John's role, he has a variety of focus areas, including strategic planning, project management, risk management, acquisitions, public sector procurements, performance-based contracts, and value-based care.

John received his Master of Public Administration from Dalhousie University. He is also committed to ongoing professional development, completing multiple courses, including the Education Program through the Governance Professionals of Canada and the Certified Post-Merger Integration Program through the Institute for Mergers, Acquisitions, and Alliances.

John is also a board member with IWK Health in Nova Scotia. IWK Health is dedicated to providing quality care to women, children, youth, and families in the Maritime provinces and beyond. In his spare time, John is an avid gymgoer and also loves skiing, playing volleyball, and spending time by the ocean.
